Hungary is not on the top list of the holiday resorts.
But this unassuming nation - sandwiched between 7 countries, has other delights to offer: friendly people, low crime rates, cheap living good food,
Hungarian Wine and even cheaper houses.
Were they doing ok or not, cooking in an oil spill, or using the wrong grease for their breakfast foods? No, they were not hiding or obscuring their debt, they were managing their hunger for credit. Well, enough food and hunger analogies and word plays, the reality is that it's not just the PIIGS which are in trouble.
PIIGS(H) of course stand for Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain, now add in Hungary, and what do we have? Hungry PIIGS, hungry for money, and out of borrowing ability, ready to rip the European Union apart. Why? Well, it should be surprising, especially considering what's been going on lately. Nations in trouble are looking for debt, borrowing more, but that only means there is less for other nations.
Nations like Portugal will not be able to have access to the capital markets or the ECB funds they need to get through this continuing economic crisis. This of course is certainly not the news the world needs to here. Since the war in Egypt fuels speculation that there are many other nations in Europe that are under the gun.Dont forget the big wild-card is Spain.
You can fly by several budget airlines offering return flights for a bargain. Rural properties in southern and eastern Hungary can be snapped up for as little as £10,000. Only 120 km or 80 miles from Budapest, it's estimated that more than 1,000 Brits own holiday homes around the lake, which is the largest in the region.
Hungarian Wines are somewhat underrated among wine enthusiasts, even the well-known
Tokaji .This is unfortunate because brand is a huge part of the wine buying process. However, people in the England can turn to the Hungarian Wine Shop to find the selection they need and also to meet some of the newcomers in this growing market.#/
